Infinity Ward back for next Call of Duty game
Posted by Anarchy on Tuesday, September 16 @ 18:20:36 EDT (326 reads)
It's been rumoured for quite some time that Infinity Ward will
develop Call of Duty 6, taking back the franchise reigns again after
Treyarch developed Call of Duty: World at War. Fans will be pleased to
hear then that Activision Blizzard has confirmed this to be true at an
Analyst Day.

With that settled we're now left wondering when
we'll see the game. Over the past few years Treyarch and Infinity Ward
have released a game a piece every two years, meaning we've had a new
CoD game every year since Call of Duty 2 in 2005.
Activision Blizzard
CEO Mike Griffith reportedly mentioned both a 2009 and 2010 release
date for the game at the event, suggesting that we might be in for a
wait after the release of World at War.

Posted by gLiTcH on Friday, May 30 @ 22:50:20 EDT (497 reads)
A copy/paste from 402's blog:
Great news! Heads up that the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Variety Map Pack sponsored by NVIDIA will be available worldwide for our PC players next week on June 5th! NVIDIA is making it possible for PC players to download the map pack for Free on the PC thanks to their sponsorship. In addition, expect to see quite a few promotions popping up leading up to the launch of the map packs on the 5th and beyond. I know NVIDIA has a lot of great things planned for PC users in addition to maps becoming available. There’s going to be some PC specific previews going up online this weekend I believe that will cover how well the maps play on the PC version as well as some contests and promotions happening all next week. I’ll be posting up details on them as they get started all this week! The Variety Map Pack includes four new maps for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare multiplayer including Broadcast, Chinatown, Killhouse, and Creek. In addition to the map pack hitting, PC Players will be receiving the 1.6 Patch for the PC version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare that will add support for the new maps, fix a server crash exploit recently reported by the community, and a few additional features / bug fixes. I will post a full patch notes list next week. Source: http://iamfourzerotwo.com/

COD 5 - Headlines Activision's 2008 release list
Posted by gLiTcH on Friday, March 28 @ 11:31:39 EDT (239 reads)
Old news, but still some news for those who haven't seen it...
In addition to announcing record profits on Thursday, Activision unveiled its 2008 release schedule, led by several familiar franchises.
As reported by Gaming Target, Call of Duty 5 (while completely expected) was confirmed for PS3, Xbox 360, DS, PC, PS2, and Wii. Unlike last year's game, the next installment will return to its World War II roots and is being developed by Treyarch as opposed to Infinity Ward. Treyarch previously handled development responsibilities for Call of Duty 2 and 3, with Infinity Ward manning the helm of Call of Duty 4. With regards to its other game staples, Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith said the Tony Hawk series will be getting a major overhaul, this after EA's Skate outsold Tony Hawk's Proving Ground 2 to 1 last year. Additionally, two Guitar Hero spin-offs are expected this summer, with Guitar Hero 4 shipping in the fall. The full list of tentatively planned titles are as follows: April - June 2008 - Kung Fu Panda (six platforms)
- 2 Guitar Hero Spinoffs
Fall 2008 - Call of Duty 5 (PS3, Xbox 360, DS, PC, PS2, Wii)
- Guitar Hero 4
- Next Tony Hawk
- Quantum of Solace (Bond 22)
- Madagascar: The Crate Escape
- Kung Fu Panda Followup
- Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2
- Next Spider-Man
Early 2009 - Monsters Versus Aliens (Dreamworks Animation)
